Taking the plunge.

Well, I did it. I actually did it. This week I gave my resignation notice at my office. There are few things that combine the pure delight of freedom from a 9-5 job with the abject terror of well, freedom from a 9-5 job like voluntarily quitting to focus on your business full time!

I opened Shadowbend Studios a year and a half ago and have been working nights and weekends since then, seeing clients on my lunch hours, on my way into and home from my job etc. But things have now gotten to the point where I have have enough business coming in that to stay at my day job would mean turning down projects, which I really would rather not do!

So, here I am, on the verge of making a go of it on my own. With experience, training, talent, infrastructure and the support of my family, friends and clients, I am truly looking forward to this next chapter of my life and the adventure that awaits in the realms of being a small business owner!

Cheers,
Skip

Welcome, grab a pencil and doodle!

Ladies and Gentleman, boys and girls (who let the clowns and elephants into my studio??). Here you will find the continuing postings of James “Skip” Sommer (that would be me), the owner of a one man design studio called Shadowbend Studios. I opened my studio in February 2nd 2005 and have been blessed with clients that have been wonderful to work with.

I wanted to create a blog not only to promote and support my business, but also to network with others who may also be new owners of creative businesses. So, if you have a moment and would like to say hello, please do. After all, that’s what this whole thing is all about.

Take Care,
Skip
