Well, I did it. I actually did it. This week I gave my resignation notice at my office. There are few things that combine the pure delight of freedom from a 9-5 job with the abject terror of well, freedom from a 9-5 job like voluntarily quitting to focus on your business full time!
I opened Shadowbend Studios a year and a half ago and have been working nights and weekends since then, seeing clients on my lunch hours, on my way into and home from my job etc. But things have now gotten to the point where I have have enough business coming in that to stay at my day job would mean turning down projects, which I really would rather not do!
So, here I am, on the verge of making a go of it on my own. With experience, training, talent, infrastructure and the support of my family, friends and clients, I am truly looking forward to this next chapter of my life and the adventure that awaits in the realms of being a small business owner!
Cheers,

You’ve certainly hit the nail on the head. It’s incredibly liberating to be a “free agent”. The biggest advantage is setting your own hours.
Oh, did I mention that your new hours are 24/7?
You’re going about this the way that many of us with that we would have. I had the generous assistance of being laid off, in helping make my decision. Now that my business is beginning to pick up, I’m looking forward to seeing my former employers, and saying “Thank you.”
I know that you’ll be a success!
